COURT ORDERS KILLING OF NOISY COCKEREL

A man in Kano has been ordered by a court to kill his cockerel by Friday, after a neighbor complained that its constant crowing was depriving him of sleep. 
The magistrate, Halima Wali, declared the bird a nuisance to the neighborhood. The man had bought the bird to celebrate Good Friday and asked for permission to keep it until the Christian holy day before slaughtering it for a family feast. 

The judge granted the request but warned the man to prevent the cockerel from disturbing residents and to ensure he slaughters the bird on Friday, or face a penalty from the court.
